Tavern chatter after escorting Prince Yhusuf

Post by Hector THE HAMMER Harken on Fri Jun 23, 2017 4:46 pm

The gang had a job to do. Escort Prince Yhusuf, the mer-prince, over land in a great big glass fishtank on wheels and get him to a cliff that overlooked his homewaters.

Here's their chatter once they got back, all in one piece I'm happy to add.

Gef (halfling warlock spy):
What an adventure! Thank god that merman's gone: he was a royal pain.
It seemed like such a straightforward mission: get this beleaguered fish-prince to allied waters. Except then you throw Medusa-eyed cockatrices into the mix! I took a right whack there. Lucky we had Scarlett with us - always take a Ranger if you're off into the forest.
Then there were the spiders (brr), the bear and this mysterious Zora figure. And who was that ghost girl Martin hacked out of the web?
Got to say, being a bit risk-blind, I was an enthusiastic but unskilled fighter, though I like to think my old spy days came back to me when I got to play negotiator with Zora, pretending that we'd delivered them Master Mackerel for bounty. We got 300GP for that overgrown sardine!
'Course, once they discovered we'd tricked them, it all kicked off. There was blood and merpiss everywhere. Literally. Nasty went medieval on that lackey of Zora's and took the snivelling little healer down. Big Duncan and Martin burst in at a perfect moment, reducing Zora's goon's dental bills. And as for that Grizzella, once she rages, it is poetry in (lumbering) motion. I've never seen a necromancer totalled like that!
In the end, the prince made a splash for it. Shame about his brother, but here's hoping the seas will soon be calm again.
Note to self: Stop shirking Eldritch Blast practice - think I damaged more stonework than bad guys. Seems it takes more than mad sneaking skills to beat heavies. And one day - one day - I WILL become the greatest spy in the world.
Anyone for a mead?

Martin Dragonsbane (dragonborn paladin acolyte):
Prince Yhusuf - the future king of the mer-folk - was an annoying man. But he proved himself honourable before we parted ways. He kept his end of the bargain, he agreed to risk himself to fulfil the plan to get into the locked tower, and, most importantly, he helped us free the spirit of the Lady of the Web.
Who was that mysterious and beguiling woman? How did she come to be trapped by the spiders and how did her spirit fail to be taken into the loving bosoms of the Many Heavens? Freeing her soul to be with her Gods was the most noble result of this mission.
Thanks to Big Duncan for kicking down the door once it proved too sturdy for my boots. I am humbled by your strength. And Grizzella's rage - though accompanied by a battle cry that's a little blue for my liking - was a sight to behold. The fire of the Gods burns within you.
But I worry about Prince Yhusuf. Though he proved himself to be more than just a royal layabout, I fear that he won't follow his heart. I fear his honour will push him down a path towards royal duties, a heteronormative marriage of convenience, and tedium: a path that I don't think he wants to tread.
I'll pray for him.

Grizella (dwarven barbarian soldier)
COMRADES WE RETURNED THE MERMAN TO THE OCEAN. HERE IS MY FULL REPORT.
WE KILLED MANY THINGS:
-GIANT CHICKENS
-SPIDERS
-ZOMBIES
-HUMANS
THINGS I AM NOT GLAD OF:
-MANY OF MY NEW COMRADES WERE INJURED.
-THE MERMAN STANK OF HIS OWN URINE AND BLED ON MY BEARD. DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG IT TAKES TO WASH BLOOD OUT OF A BEARD? A LONG TIME, THAT'S WHAT. NEXT TIME SOMEONE BLEEDS ON MY BEARD WE ARE GOING TO HAVE WORDS. (WORDS IS THE NAME OF MY HANDAXE.)
-A SPIDER BIT ME. I AM GLAD IT IS DEAD. THANK YOU NASTY!
OTHER THINGS I AM GLAD OF:
-THE MONEY WE HAVE EARNED
-MY NEW COMRADES
-SUCCESSFUL RAGE MURDER
-THE MEAD I WILL DRINK WHEN THIS REPORT IS DONE
IT WAS A GOOD ADVENTURE.
SINCERELY,
GRIZELLA

Red Scarlotte (human ranger outlander):
Prince Yusuf has been returned to his people, although sadly, I fear that with his brother murdered and the King captured, there may still be strife among the merfolk yet. But I am grateful for my new weapon, an arrow tipped with gold forged from mersteel!
I've hunted and killed so many things! Including that giant red-eyed spider - one less horrible creature to haunt the forest! Along with some zombies and that witch Zora, to whom I dealt a death blow! But what was the purpose of that collar on that bear that I freed? The mysteries of this forest continue to haunt me. What secrets lie under the roots of that dead tree with its rotten fruit and those red maggots which infest everything? And I need to find out more about that beautiful but strange flower that I picked on the cliff face. There is some strange disturbance here, and I need to spend more time in the depths of this forest to fully learn its secrets...At least I am gathering more weapons forfor the hunt!
In the meantime, comrades, here's looking forward to the next adventure!

Big Duncan (dwarven cleric ex-criminal):
We have a new arrival, a lovely, luscious lady dwarf. I am happy and hopeful however I find she is bitter and cold and argumentative. How long will it take for her to succumb to my charms? She had no bed roll yet would not share mine. I wonder what would entice her? Some gold perhaps or a shiny new sword? I will think on this.
Meanwhile my friends I thank you for your comradeship in our endeavours and raise a glass of wine to you. I look forward to our next adventure together.

Nastie (tiefling sorcerer folk hero):
Dear All,
This was the most bloody adventure so far. I am very glad we’ve got new companions to help out.
On my side, the scars of this mission was not in the flesh but in the heart! Remember when I went crazy psycho on Jake? I can admit now that I knew Jake! We have/had a very long loving history together. I got pissed off because he did not recognised me in the tower. Blinded by rage, I killed him in the most cruel manner (I instantly regretted it though!). I will sure miss his sweet baby face.
Despite the emotional load of this mission, I was still able to:
1) kill 1 chicken monster.
2) Kill a spider monster.
3) Cook a delicious chicken barbecue and spider monster pizza meal for my companions.
4) Save Grizella from certain violent death.
This is indeed the true sign of a great leader: able to perform with such dexterity in violent combats while under great emotional turmoil. Until the next mission, I will take out some lonely time in the woods to mend the scars of my broken heart.
Yours,
Nastie
PS: Dear Hector, I know you were looking forward to a one to one celebration of my combat achievements…I can only apologies and hope we can catch up soon.
